The award will be given for important clinical research in infectious diseases and/or HIV/AIDS conducted in a resource-limited setting. The successful applicant will be expected to spend a significant amount of time during the year in country.

This award provides funding for young investigators who develop and implement a basic, clinical, or health services research project focused on a geriatric aspect of infectious diseases. Applicants must have applied for the GEMSSTAR award and received a fundable score as defined by the National Institutes of Health. Award Amount: (1) Two-year award of $150,000 (100,000 research grant & 50,000 career development award)
