he American-Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation is accepting proposals for several research grant competitions.
Clinical Research Grant
Up to five Clinical Research Grants, ranging from $50,000 to $75,000, will be awarded to support researchers conducting one- to two-year clinical studies. The grants are designed to help build the capacity for investigators in communication sciences and disorders to develop and evaluate evidence-based practices.
Eligible investigators are invited to submit proposals for clinical research studies on the efficacy of treatment and assessment practices in audiology and speech-language pathology. Grants may be awarded for mentored, independent or collaborative treatment research proposals. Deadline: April 26.
New Century Scholars Research Grant
Up to 10 grants of $10,000 each are available for one- or two-year investigations. Grants will be awarded to support innovative research by scholars committed to teacher-investigator careers in academia or in external research institutes or laboratories. Selection criteria include the investigator's ability and the methodology and feasibility of the research proposal.
Eligible investigators must have a PhD or equivalent research doctorate within communication sciences and disorders and demonstrate the potential for and commitment to significant independent CSD-related research. The research setting must be conducive to completing the investigation. Deadline: April 26.
New Investigators Research Grant
Up to 10 grants of $5,000 each will support new researchers (who have received a doctoral degree within the past five years). Proposals should have clinical relevance to audiology and/or speech-language pathology; proposals in the area of treatment research are especially encouraged.
Eligible investigators may not have received prior research funding, except for internal university funding. Proposals must be for research that has not yet begun. Students who are currently enrolled in a degree program are not eligible for this competition. Deadline: May 3.
All awards will be given and recipients recognized in November at the 2013 ASHA Convention in Chicago.
