PSYCHOSOCIAL RESEARCH GRANTS

The mission of the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation is to improve the quality of life for those living with
spinal cord injury (SCI) and to support scientific exploration for effective therapies and treatments
leading to a cure.
In support of this, the Neilsen Foundation sponsors the following competitive grants processes:
1. Basic-Translational-Clinical Research (two grant cycles each year)
a) Basic-Applied Research, in the United States and/or Canada, that seeks to understand the
biological basis for recovery of function after SCI that will enable the translation of these
findings to a clinical setting; and
b) Translational-Preclinical or Clinical Research, in the United States and/or Canada, that will
develop new, effective treatments for SCI.
2. Quality of Life Programs, in the United States and/or Canada, that support innovative
rehabilitation, recreation and other independent living services for people living with SCI.
3. Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Medicine Fellowships to increase the number of qualified physicians
who are trained specifically in this field. These Fellowships are only offered in the United States.
Please visit the Neilsen Foundation website at www.chnfoundation.org for more information about
these grant programs.

NEW PSYCHOSOCIAL RESEARCH INITIATIVE

The purpose of this new initiative is to expand the Neilsen research portfolio to encompass
