Bill Gates Foundation seeking Ideas for its Healthcare Grants

Deadline: 12 November 2013
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is asking for ideas that can provide grants of up to $100,000 to transform them into successful projects for the betterment of healthcare. The Grand Challenges Explorations is a grant program of the Foundation that provides funding for project ideas that can lead to the improvement of the world’s poorest people.
Under the Grand Challenges Explorations Round 12, the Gates Foundation is seeking for new ideas that “Encourage The World’s Poorest People to Seek Health Care, Develop a New Condom, and Reduce Diarrhea, One of the Biggest Killers of Children on the Planet”
Grand Challenges Explorations encourages proposals from individuals or groups with anything to offer, from anywhere in the world, and seeks to uncover cross-discipline approaches.
The topics for the Round 12 are:
  • Inciting Healthy Behaviors: nudge, disrupt, leapfrog, reach
  • New Enabling Tools and Models Supporting Development of Interventions for Enteric Dysfunction
  • Innovations in Feedback and Accountability Systems for Agricultural Development
  • The “One Health” Concept: Bringing Together Human and Animal Health for New Solutions
  • Develop the Next Generation of Condom
The Gates Foundation and an independent group of reviewers selects the most promising proposals, and grants will be awarded within approximately four months from the proposal submission deadline. Initial grants are $100,000 each. Projects demonstrating potential will have the opportunity to receive additional funding up to $1 million.
To apply for any grant opportunity under the Grand Challenges Exploration, there is no lengthy proposal to be submitted. You are only required to fill a short two-page application form.
Round 12 is currently open and applications will be accepted until November 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
