NSF Doctoral Dissertation Deadline

Dear AOR representative,
As you know, the government was shut down from 1 -16 October, 2013. The deadline for Doctoral Dissertation Improvement grants (DDIGs) in the Biological Sciences occurred during that time. The NSF Policy office assigned new dates to all the deadlines that occurred during the shutdown. The new deadline for the DDIG in Biology is 6 November, 2013.  Please be sure to use the current DDIG solicitation NSF 13-568. Only two divisions within the Biology Directorate accept DDIGs- Integrative Organismal Systems (IOS) and the Division of Environmental Biology (DEB). In IOS, only our program, Animal Behavior, accepts DDIG proposals. NO other clusters or programs participate. Proposals in other areas of IOS science will be returned without review.  Please note that the DDIG does NOT use the Excel based COI template that is used for the regular preliminary proposals but follows the GPG (NSF 13-1).

You can find the complete list of rescheduled deadlines and more post-shutdown information as well as FAQs for the due date revision here:http://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/postshutdown.jsp

If you have any questions about the Animal Behavior DDIG competition, please feel free to contact us,
Michelle Elekonich (melekoni@nsf.gov) and Bruce Cushing (bscushin@nsf.gov)
